The Richard J. Gibson Award is given annually to the first year Scout in the Troop who shows the greatest amount of potential. Potential is, of course, a very difficult thing to give a definite meaning to, but it can best be described as a combination of Scout Spirit, Leadership, and Camping ability. In order to be eligible for the Gibson Award, a Scout must be a member of Troop 16 for a period of at least one year, but no more than two. Richard J. Gibson is the former Scoutmaster of Troop 16 from 1962-1981. He currently serves as Troop 16's, Packs 16's, Post 16's and Pack 32's Unit Commissioner and in various capacities with the Potawatomi District. |
