Membership in Troop 16 is open to ALL boys who have completed the fifth grade of school and are between the ages of 11 and 18 or to those boys who are in the Cub Scout program and have successfully completed their Arrow of Light Award as a Webelos Scout. Boys who meet these requirements may visit a maximum of SIX Troop Meetings and participate in ONE outdoor event provided that a Parents Authorization Form is signed by the parent. (Our Troop insurance covers only registered Scouts.) During this period, he may participate in the Troop's activities ONLY if an application to join Troop 16, properly filled out and signed by a parent or guardian, is on file with the Troop. This application will not be forwarded to the local Scout Council Office for processing to become officially registered UNTIL a boy indicates he will enroll. Dues must be submitted at this time. As soon as a boy becomes a member, so do his parents or guardians. Personal involvement of a boy's parents in Troop activities is expected. We have noticed over the years that there is a significant correlation between the degree of interest and involvement by the parents and their son's success in Scouting. When a boy hands in his dues as a newly registered Scout, his parents or guardians MUST attend that Troop Meeting so that they can meet the Troop Staff and their son's Patrol Leader. Dues are paid annually at the September Court of Honor and cover a period from September through August. Dues may be paid either by cash or by check, payable to: Troop 16, B.S.A.Annual dues are $60.00 and the remainder is covered through yearly fund raisers.
