All Scouts are required to wear a full uniform at all Troop Meetings and most Troop activities. This includes Official Scout shirt with all insignia, red shoulder tabs, Official Scout trousers, belt, neckerchief (provided by the Troop), neckerchief slide, socks, and gym shoes.

The Troop will provide new members with a small temporary red Scout neckerchief, all appropiate insignia, one Troop 16 T-shirt, a Boy Scout Handbook and Troop Manual. Upon completion of the Tenderfoot requirements, the Troop will award the Scout an Official Troop 16 green plaid neckerchief. This is the only Troop 16 neckerchief that the Scout will receive. If a replacement is needed, a $10.00 charge will be made.

In recognition of the fact that the Evanston was once its own Scout Council, Troop 16 uses the "EVANSTON" and "ILLINOIS" shoulder patches in place of the "Northeast Illinois Council" shoulder patch. Troop 16 also wears the "75-YEAR" strip, over the unit numbers, in recognition of our over 75 years of Scouting as a Troop. The 75-Year bar is supplied by the Troop.

Troop 16 maintains a uniform exchange. Old uniform parts are gratefully accepted and there is a $5.00 per article fee for parts that find a new home. When these are outgrown, they should be returned for a full credit. Questions regarding uniforms and insignia should be directed to the Scoutmaster.

Scouts are expected to bring their copy of the Official Boy Scout Handbook, note paper, and a pen or pencil to every Scout activity. Additionally, the Scout should bring 75 cents to the Troop Meeting in the event he has to call home. There will be an inspection of the Scouts' uniform and his "preparedness" at each of the weekly Troop Meetings.
